Sumedang – Minister Pertahanan (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto expressed his admiration when he saw 60,000 people, mostly farmers and breeders, attending the event ‘Guidance for Agriculture Extension Officers and Farmers and Participatory Food Estate in West Java Province to Support the Increase in National Rice and Corn Production’ in Sumedang, on Tuesday (30/1). The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense.
“Today is extraordinary, I don’t think there have been 60,000 people in one tent before,” he said.
Prabowo then congratulated the farmers for carrying out a very noble task, which is to ensure food sustainability.
“Congratulations to the big family of agriculture, my brothers and sisters are carrying out a very noble mission,” he said.
He also assessed that this noble task is equivalent to defending the country. Because, food shortage has become a global threat faced by many countries.
“All of your agriculture officers are aware, we soldiers used to fight, yes. Now the battle is to secure the nation from food shortages,” he added.
Therefore, he mentioned that farmers, breeders, and fishermen are true patriots who have contributed to the homeland. Prabowo is also optimistic that Indonesia can become a strong and advanced country.
“I always give an example in various forums that I have great respect for farmers, breeders, fishermen, and agricultural laborers. You are true patriots. You are unknown heroes. You are the ones who produce food for the entire Indonesian people,” he said.
“I am more enthusiastic today, I am more confident today, Indonesia is strong, Indonesia is advanced. Insha Allah, we will eliminate poverty from the land of Indonesia,” he concluded. (SENOPATI)
